Cite Us

You are welcome to quote, cite, or link to anything on this site. No permission needed. What follows makes that easier and keeps the attribution accurate.

What is citable here

This is a California employment law site written for workers. The pages most useful to cite are the ones that pin a specific rule to a specific authority.

  • California minimum wage rates by city, each carrying the date the rate was last verified against its official source.
  • Wage and hour calculators for overtime, severance, vacation payout, waiting time penalties, and back pay, each explaining the rule it applies.
  • Explainers on deadlines, protected activity, misclassification, leave rights, and settlement taxation, cited to the Labor Code, FEHA, or the Internal Revenue Code.

Several articles end with a Key points table summarizing the rules that article established, with the governing authority beside each one. Those tables exist to be quoted.

How to cite us

Use the page you actually relied on rather than the homepage, so readers land where the support is. Substitute the page title and URL below.

A request about accuracy

Employment figures go stale on a schedule. Rates and thresholds change every January 1, and sometimes mid-year. If you are citing a number, cite the verification date shown on the page along with it, and check the page again before republishing later.

Please cite the rule rather than turning it into advice. "Under Labor Code section 203, unpaid final wages can accrue up to 30 days of pay" is accurate. "You are owed 30 days of pay" is not, because that depends on facts.

How we source what we publish
